Mea Starr Tavares

Yoga Nidra Instructor

Mea Starr Tavares is a Non-Binary, Trans and Queer teacher and practitioner of Yoga Nidra, Yoga, and multiple lineages of bodywork. (Polarity Therapy, CranioSacral Therapy, and traditional Japanese Usui Reiki). As a person of primarily Acadian, French Canadian and Irish descent, they are committed to carrying these practices with awareness of their personal positionality and an intersectional orientation to the shared core of Liberation that weaves through these traditions. They practice, teach and live in relationship with the unceded land of the Penobscot people of the Wabanaki Confederacy, currently known as downeast Maine. In the 26 years of their training they have cultivated a language and reverence for the subtle body and the transformational capacity of the spirit which they bring to their practice of Yoga Nidra.

In 2018 they developed Yoga Nidra for the Voice Actor with director Kal-El Bogdanove and

collaboratively offered this transformational practice, at the intersections of developing emotional and performative range, until the beginning of the COVID pandemic. Mea is excited to bring

Yoga Nidra for the Voice Actor to the Adventures in Voice Acting classroom and community, expanding access to this threshold-transcending practice as a part of the AiVA team.
