Workshop Testimonial by Doug Kendrick
What did you like about the workshop?
More than anything, it was having time to actually be on the microphone, experience what it’s like to be in the studio and receive direction from an expert ADR director…. The other great takeaway was having such a nice overview of many of the different facets of the world of voice acting.
Would you take additional workshops if they were offered?
Absolutely! I’m looking forward to an “advanced” class where we can discuss specific voice acting techniques better (different ways to use the voice, dialects, matching mouth-flaps for anime, acting techniques, etc.) and get more mic time. It might also be nice to get a little more individual “counseling” about how I could best proceed with a future in VA, what my own strengths are, etc.—basically, more of an analysis of my own abilities and how to make the most of them.
Other comments or suggestions?
It’s wonderful to have a great overview into the world of VA taught by such excellent, competent, fun and kind instructors. As just a layperson off the street (and huge anime fan), I really had no idea of the breadth or depth of the field of “Voice Acting”. Being able to have a taste of all the different things like commercials, cold-read auditions, anime dubbing, walla and more, it gave me a much better grasp of what’s out there. (not to say a better appreciation of what voice actors do). It was an all around positive experience.
Please grade the workshop from 1 to 10 (1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest): 9
